A map from 1912 showing the ridge as an earthwork between Castle Road and St Marys Walk

A single trench was excavated at the rear of this property to investigate the ridge running across this and the neighbouring gardens in a roughly east-west direction parallel with Castle Road. The excavation was terminated due to lack of time without shedding any light on the origins of this feature.
